Update — Spotify presaves are no longer permanent
As of July 2026, Spotify caps third-party authorization at 6 months. Every presave tool, Laylo included, loses permission to save music to a fan's library 6 months after that fan last connected Spotify — unless they reconnect. The "lifetime" or "forever" presave no longer exists on Spotify's side. (Background.)
Why this hurts less on Laylo: a fan's Spotify connection is stored on their Laylo fan profile, not on your artist account. So when that fan presaves for any artist on Laylo, their 6-month clock resets — for you too, without you lifting a finger. The bigger the network gets, the more often your fans get re-authorized somewhere else and stay presave-eligible for your next drop.
What this means for you:
Run a presave at least every 6 months. Each one re-authorizes your own audience directly on your pages.
Always send Drop Day Messages to All Fans. That's still what activates presaves for fans from past drops — see Recurring Presaves below.
Lapsed fans just need one tap. A fan whose authorization expired gets prompted to reconnect the next time they hit a presave, and they're covered for another 6 months.
🎵 Spotify setup
[SCREENSHOT 1 — the Advanced tab with Spotify presave settings]
Go to your drop. Open the drop where you want to enable presaves.
Click the Advanced tab. This is where Spotify presave and autofollow settings live.
Add your Spotify artist URL. This activates the auto-follow feature.
Add either the ISRC of the upcoming track, or the Spotify album URL.
Publish the drop. When fans sign up they will immediately follow your artist profile. When the drop message triggers, the song will be saved to fans' Spotify libraries.
🎧 Apple Music setup
[SCREENSHOT 2 — the Apple Music upsell option]
Go to your drop. Open the same drop where you want to add Apple Music presave.
Click the Advanced tab. This is where upsell settings live.
Click Add Upsell. Check the box to activate the Apple Music Presave from the options.
Laylo automatically pulls the ISRC. Laylo uses the same ISRC you entered for Spotify to locate the Apple Music version of the track.
Publish the drop. Now, after fans sign up, they'll see the Apple Music Presave as an optional upsell.

🚀 Activate presaves
[SCREENSHOT 4 — the Drop Day Message setup]
Add a Drop Day Message to your drop. This message must be scheduled or sent after the track is live.
Send the drop to All Fans. This ensures it reaches both new subscribers and fans from past drops who've presaved before.
If you don't program the Drop Day Message, the presave won't activate.
💬 Attach a presave to a message
You can now drop a presave straight into a one-off message — perfect for last-minute announcements, fan-club exclusives, or anything that doesn't warrant a full drop.
Open the message composer. From your Fans tab, click New Message to start composing.
Click the Spotify icon in the toolbar. It sits next to the other attachment options. The icon only appears if you've added a Spotify artist URL to your profile — same prerequisite as drop-based presaves.
Paste an ISRC or Spotify URL. Drop in the ISRC of the upcoming track, or paste a Spotify track or album URL.
Send or schedule the message. When fans tap through, the song will be auto-saved to their Spotify or Apple Music library on release day — same behaviour as a drop-based presave.
This works for sent messages, scheduled messages and drafts — the attached presave stays with the message if you come back to edit it later.
🔁 What are recurring presaves?
[SCREENSHOT 5 — recurring presaves]
Recurring Presaves let fans presave once and get all future drops automatically. When a fan completes a presave on any drop:
Laylo remembers their Spotify or Apple Music login
On your next release, that same fan can get the new track without re-authenticating — as long as their Spotify authorization is under 6 months old (see the note at the top of this page)
You just need to include them in the Drop Day Message
So even if a fan didn't sign up for this drop, they'll still get your new release saved as long as you send to All Fans. Your presave audience grows over time, making every future drop more powerful.
